A Not Too Exciting First Post and Why I Love My Spice Storage..........

Not starting things off with a bang around here!  This is an oldie but goodie and I am sure that it circulated the web before I discovered the awesome world of craft blogs.  To which I may be slightly, just a little addicted too.......

Anyway, I own a lot of spices.  A lot.  And I was tired of not only having to dig through them to find what I need but also digging through them to find out I didn't have any.  I know I had to have seen this somewhere just not sure where so I can't give credit where credit is due.

$20 for the tins with shipping, $2.00 for magnets from Wal-mart, hot glue, my label maker and the side of my refrigerator.  No pictures because I did this over a year ago and it really sort of explains itself. Not only does this solve the above two issues but there is only a small counter top between my stove and frig so I can just reach right over and get what I need!

So easy!

I promise to get a little more exciting and crafty soon!

  1. Donna,

I saw Alton Brown do this on Good Eats. Could this be where you saw it? One thing - light of any kind will make your spices expire faster. I don't know why but it does. If possible put small amounts in these containers and keep the rest in the freezer. Your spices will last a very long time and as we know most really good spices aren't cheap. Alton Brown has his on the inside door of his pantry away from the light but it is exactly the same set up as you have. See, great minds think alike and no, I'm not an AB stalker - just think his Good Eats show is really cool.
