Flower Cake Pops

I decided to finally give it a go and make some cake pops.

I used the standard chocolate sheet cake plus 1/2 cup of frosting recipe.  Rather than make it easy the first time and do balls I had the idea stuck in my head that I wanted to do flowers and Valentine colors.  I meant to pick up pink and white but got colorburst brights instead.

Rolled the cake mixture out and cut out flowers.  I then stuck the stick in them and placed them in the freezer.

Now the fun begins.  If your daughter, who while I am typing this is currently dipping fruit at Edible Arrangements, tells you this step is not easy, listen.  I used the melts and melted at 30 second intervals at 50% power in the microwave.  I only had to reheat once, I think.  Took a little while but I got the hang of it.  The melts harden much faster than chocolate and far less forgiving.

I think they turned out cute and they taste great but I would definitely need to practice more before I attempted a party or birthday.

Check out all of the places I party here!

  1. They turned out really cute. I have yet to try making cake pops. Everyone says it's not too hard but it still looks like it is to me.
